"The More You Honor Me, The More I will Bless You".
These words inspired the late professor Joe Espina to introduce the devotion to Long Island. In January 1983, Maria Luz, Primo and Tessie Carlos, along with their other neighbors, Nellie Baldillo, Nena Torres and Sonia Carasig, started it in Suffolk County. The devotion consisted of bringing the images of the Santo Nino, the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Holy Crucifix to a sponsoring family every Saturday. The same year Dr. Emmanuel (Boy) Pangan and the late Dr. Trining Pangan joined the prayer group along with Freddie and the late Zeny Salas, Nene De Guzman (who made the wardrobe for the Holy Images), the late Adriano Torres (who played the violin), and Lilia Son as Treasurer. Odie and Sonia Tagle were brought in by Trining Pangan. Through Trining's personal contacts, scheduling novenas became easy as more families took the Santo Nino into their hearts and homes.

In January 1984, Ben and Saisy San Pedro joined in, and Rolly and Rose Ramos in the spring of the same year. Subsequently, the following coordinators joined the group: Gene and Aida Carpio, Tony and Lily Madrinan, Tom and Linda Siaton, Tony and Emily Fernandez, Vernie Gillery, Camilo and Ellen Cuarteros, Johnny and Ophie Passion, Ding and Agnes Ocampo, Raul and Mercie Castro, Ric and Luz Asuncion, the late Manny and Edith Enerio, Joe and Luth Mari, Perry and Mercy de Guzman, Conrad and Cora Casem, "Daddy" Joe and the late "Mommy" Susan Mirador, Oscar and Len Alee Emmaline Carlos, Thad and Alsie Morris and also Ding and Mercy Rivera.

The idea of Santo Nino fiesta was conceived to bring all devotees together in a special mass and thanksgiving. This was made possible through the guidance of Father Joe Casaclang, our first Spiritual Director. In August 1984, the fiesta was held at the St. Joseph Church, Kings Park, New York and so were the following three fiestas until Fr. Joe Casaclang was transferred to St. Edwards Roman Catholic in Syosset. Then, the Santo Nino sent us Fr. James Dineros, who has since become our Spiritual Director and we held Sto Nino Fiesta at St. John of God, Central Islip, New York. Subsequently, all Santo Nino Fiestas were held at St. Joseph's Church in Ronkonkoma, New York.
